A bone is said to fractured when that bone breaks in several pieces or it develops a crack. Fracture ranges from minute cracks to complete breaks. Fractures usually occur when bone experiences high force or stress. Fractures also occur due to the medical conditions namely osteoporosis and some types of cancer. Sometimes, overuse injuries from repetitive motion can cause stress fractures, they’re extremely tiny cracks in the bone.
Automobile accidents cause severe fractures and may call for urgent medical attention. Dr.Rohit Nalavade caters to patients that require emergency surgical intervention due to accidents and sports injuries.
There are main 5 different types of fracture:
If the injury doesn’t cause the skin to cut open it is known as closed fracture, but if the injury causes the skin to break open it is known as open fracture or compound fracture.
In a complete fracture the parts of the bone that have been fractured are completely separated from each other.
The point where the bone breaks, a gap is formed. In other words, broken bone moves out of alignment. Displaced fractures normally require surgery.
The break doesn’t go all the way through the bone.
Bone gets a miniscule crack in it, because it is really tiny in size sometimes it is tough to find with imaging.
